LEEK Town have a chance to further their promotion chances when they face Basford United at home tonight (March 13),  kick off 7.45pm.

A 1-0 victory at home to Stamford on Saturday took them to within two points of the end-of-season play-off places

CHEADLE Town are still waiting to see who they will face in final of the league challenge cup.

Last night’s semi-final between Leek CSOB and Wolstanton United was postponed a fourth time.

The pitch at Pointon Park, Cheddleton was waterlogged following persistent rain.

A SWEET VICTORY FOR PUB TEAM BASSETT’S 

DILHORNE pub team Charlie Bassett’s are celebrating their first trophy success of the season.

Bassett’s beat Prince of Wales in the northern final of the Staffs FA Sam Kimberley Trophy on Sunday.

The game was decided by a penalty shoot-out after the scores were locked at 1-1  at the end of normal time and then 2-2 after extra-time.

The City Traders League side then secured a 3-2 victory on penalties over their opponents from the Leek and District Sunday League.

Bassett’s goalkeeper Luke Morris covered himself in glory by making three saves from the spot..
