Staffordshire has less bobbies and more crime

REPORTED crime in Staffordshire has risen by 10 per cent in 12 months.

Latest figures show police investigated 7,625 more offences in a one year period.

There has been a particular increase in violence, public disorder and shoplifting.

Staffordshire Police have slashed their number of officers in recent years.

The county force has got rid of nearly 500 officers over a seven-year period.

There were nearly 2,400 officers serving Staffordshire in 2010 compared to around 1,670 today.

It was recently reported that bobbies were spending less time on the beat.
