STAFFORDSHIRE-BORN Olympic champion swimmer Adam Peaty is in Australia for the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games which opened today.
The former Cheadle Painsley College student, who was raised in Uttoxeter, is favourite to strike gold in the 50m and 100m breaststroke, as the world record holder for both events.
Peaty is also set to represent his country in the 200m breaststroke and 4×100 medley. He claimed three medals at Glasgow Commonwealth Games four years ago on his way up to global success.
Peaty now lives in Leicestershire, to be closer to his Loughborough training base, where he is coached by former international swimmer Melanie Marshall.
