Syrian refugee families welcomed to the Staffordshire Moorlands

LEEK Rural county councillor, Gill Heath, cabinet member for communities, has revealed seven more families of Syrian refugees have been accommodated in Staffordshire.

They have been settled into their new homes in the Staffordshire Moorlands, East Staffordshire and Lichfield District.

Staffordshire County Council has pledged to find 50 homes for families in greatest need under the Syrian Vulnerable Persons scheme.

Councillor Heath, pictured, said these include people requiring urgent medical treatment, survivors of torture, and women and children who are most at risk.
