ENTRIES are invited for Rudyard Sailability’s annual Dragon Boat Race on Saturday, July 17.
The popular fun-packed event is a major fundraiser for the charity which provides sailing opportunities for people of all ages living with disability on Rudyard Lake.
Teams of 11 race in home-made canoes across the lake at the popular local beauty spot which attracts thousands of visitors to its shores every year.
A Rudyard Sailability spokesperson said: “The adrenalin flows as the teams race for the trophies, but all are heroes in our eyes and everyone goes home with a medal and a great sense of achievement.”
Prizes will be awarded for a number of categories including fancy dress.
The day starts 10am with time trials which split the teams to enter either the cup or plate competition.
“We are always looking for new teams to enter the Dragon Boat Race, and this year we are having to make it a bigger and better event,” added the spokesperson.
There are two ways to enter:
· Corporate teams: £500 minimum donation.
· Non-corporate teams: £330 minimum sponsorship (£30 per team member).
Entry fees to be paid in full by June 23 and forwarded to: Linda Gill, 10 Stratford Way, Ridge View, Macclesfield, Cheshire SK11 8XT. Cheques made payable to ‘Rudyard Sailability’.
Additional attractions on the day will include a barbecue and fundraising activities, and an opportunity to register children, between the ages of seven and 14, on a first-come-first-served basis for a lunchtime children’s race.
