Three arrested in Cheadle in connection with a violent robbery

POLICE arrested two women and a man in Cheadle in the early hours of today in connection with a violent robbery involving a taxi driver.

Officers responded to reports of a taxi driver being attacked in the High Street at around 3:45am.

The taxi driver suffered head injuries and had £100 in cash taken from him.

A 23-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man from Stoke-on-Trent were arrested at the scene on suspicion of robbery.

Another 22-year-old woman, also from Stoke-on-Trent, was arrested on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm. All three remain in custody for questioning.

The taxi driver was taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital to treat his injuries.
