More than 30 firefighters attended Waterhouses blaze

MORE than 30 firefighters fought a blaze in a five-storey building on a  industrial estate at Waterhouses, near Leek yesterday afternoon.

A Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman explained: “The large number was needed to deal with the fire due to the height of the building.”

Crews were summoned from seven fire stations – Leek, Ipstones, Cheadle, Biddulph, Uttoxeter, Longton, and Burslem – were called to the incident off Earlsway.

The fire involved the top floor of the building which houses machinery.
