HEALTH and Safety Executive officers and police are investigating a fatal accident at a Cheddleton agricultural engineering factory.
A 41 year old man, who is believed to be from the Leek area, suffered multiple serious injuries in the incident at LM Bateman’s Island Works, off Cheadle Road, on Wednesday afternoon.
He was rushed to the Royal Stoke University Hospital where he died from his injuries.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman: “Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance with a BASICS doctor on board was sent to the scene.
Crews found a man who had suffered multiple serious injuries. The team worked quickly to administer advanced trauma care at the scene before he was taken by ambulance to the Royal Stoke University Hospital. The doctor travelled with the patient to continue emergency treatment en-route.
“Sadly, despite the best efforts of ambulance staff and hospital medics, nothing could be done to save the man and he was confirmed dead later in hospital,” added the spokesman.
A statement issued by the company said: “We are deeply shocked and saddened to announce that there has been a tragic fatal accident involving one of our valued employees.
“We are currently co-operating fully with the police and HSE investigation taking place.”
