THE body of missing schoolboy Ryan Evans has this evening been recovered from Westport Lake in Stoke-on-Trent.
The sad conclusion followed an extensive search for the 13 year-old Haywood Academy student by emergency services and specialist underwater teams since Monday.
A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: “Ryan’s family have been informed and our thoughts and condolences are with them at this very difficult time.
“His family and friends who were at the lake with him on Monday, are being supported by family liaison officers.
“We cannot thank everyone, from family and friends to members of the public, the local community, and partner agencies, enough for their help and assistance.
“A report will be prepared for HM Coroner.”
Ryan went missing on Monday afternoon after going swimming in the lake with two other boys, aged 12 and 13, both who managed to make it safely back to shore after getting into difficulties.
Specialist underwater teams from as far afield as Nottingham and Wales were brought in to assist in the search for Ryan.
