FIREFIGHTERS from Leek, Longton and Hanley have fought a large grassland blaze at Cheddleton .
The fire was on agricultural land below the village playing fields.
With temperatures set the soar in the coming days concerns are growing that there will be a further increase in grass and heathland blazes.
A Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman revealed today that 76 per cent of outdoor fires in Staffordshire are started deliberately..
He warned:”Anyone setting fires could face a jail term or a £5,000 fine.”
Arsonists were recently blamed setting fire to play equipment at Cheddleton playing fields.
