Alex is back playing for his native county Staffs

STAFFORDSHIRE have been able to call upon the services former Leek player Alex Mellor for their three-day Unicorns Championship clash with Cumberland at Netherfield.

Alex, 26, is presently striving to cement a career in first-class  cricket with Warwickwhire, after he was spotted starring for his home county.

He joined the Edgbaston-based ‘Bears’ at the end of the 2015 season.

“We found Alex was available and it was a no-brainer from our point of view to bring him in,” said Staffordshire captain Kadeer Ali.

When not playing for Warwicks, wicketkeeper/batsman Alex turns out for Walsall in the Birmingham and District Premier League.
