Dog Trust Tournament Held At Pointon Park, Cheddleton

The inaugural John Pointon and Sons Charity Shield event was held at Pointon Park on Wednesday 11th July 2018, the chosen charity was The Dogs Trust with a football tournament to raise money and awareness for the charity. Steve Sherratt  a local PCSO Officer and champion fund raiser for The Dog Trust organised the event and attracted teams from local schools and Staffs Police.


This is just another event that Steve is involved with, soon he is off cycling to Manchester then on to Shrewsbury, again raising money and awareness for the dog trust. The event held at Pointon Park was sponsored by John Pointon and Sons which included teams from The Roaches School Biddulph, Staffs Police and a boys and girls team from Werrington Primary School, Steve commented during the event ” Its a great turn out for the first charity shield event, the kids in particular are loving it, its us slightly older ones struggling in the heat, i would also like to the Barney Williams from Pointons in supporting the event”. Park Manager John Barratt said ” its a wonderful sight to see both kids and adults mixing in a friendly tournament, its what the park was designed for and Steve deserves credit for organising such a terrific event”. Werrington Boys won the Trophy by one goal.
