More than 60 vacancies for workers at Leek cheese-packing factory

ORNUA Foods UK have launched a recruitment drive for 60 new workers at their Leek factory.

The major supplier of pre-packed hard cheese to the UK retail market needs to add more production operatives to its 600-strong workforce at its cheese cutting and packing facility.

The new jobs are a mark of Ornua’s ongoing success in the UK – including a recently won major new contract to supply cheddar cheese to one of the country’s leading supermarkets.

Bill Hunter, pictured, Ornua Foods UK’s managing director, said: “Ornua Foods UK has had a significant presence in Leek since 1922 and we pride ourselves on being a major employer within the local
community.

“The new production operative roles we’re recruiting for reflect the growing success of the business and represent a great opportunity for someone looking to work in the fast-moving world of food production, earn a competitive rate of pay and have the potential to develop their career over the longer term. Experience is not essential as full training will be given.

“However, at Ornua we are always looking for people who are willing to learn and eager to progress.”

Ornua Foods UK was formed when Ornua acquired North Downs Dairy’s state-of-the-art cheese packing plant on Sunnyhills Road in Leek in 2010.
