Unique double feat achieved by endurance runner

LEEK’S globetrotting international endurance athlete Jason Burgess has pulled off a unique feat on his travels.

Burgess (pictured) completed a first-time double when he struck gold in the M40-44 category  at the European Obstacle Course Racing Championships in Denmark.

The win added to the World title claimed by the 41-year-old in Canada last year.

Burgess said: “I know this feat may be matched in the future, but I will always be proud that I was the first to achieve this in my chosen sport.”

He is hoping to defend his World title later this year

Jason added: “I’ve been asked if I’m up for it again, but if my coach Dave Owen thinks I am in good enough shape, than I will be on the line again in October.”

Owen said: “Jason never ceases to amaze me, even after all the years we have raced and trained together, he always has the strength and determination to push the bar higher and harder when others think he may be too old for it.”
