A second gold medal for Adam at the European championships

SWIMMER Adam Peaty claimed his second gold medal at the European Championships in Glasgow last night, adding to his 100m breaststroke triumph at the weekend.

The former Painsley RC College, Cheadle student was part of the winning GB 4x100m mixed medley relay team which set a new championship record time of 3 minutes and 40.18 seconds.

The other team members were Freya Anderson, James Guy and Georgia Davies.

Adam, 23, returns to the pool tonight in the men’s 50m breaststroke and also has a part to play in the men’s 4x100m medley at the championships later this week.

He is focused on defending the titles he won in London two years ago.

Adam said: “That has always been on my mind. It would be nice to defend all my titles, but I’m taking it stroke by stroke, event by event.”
