UTTOXETER bred Adam Peaty has produced another record-breaking performance in the pool at the European Championships in Glasgow.
Adam, now based in Leicestershire, was in the middle of the pack of his semi-final heat of the 50m breaststroke, before he broke clear of his rivals to win 26.23 seconds, more than a half-second ahead of the field.
The former Cheadle Painsley College student’s time broke his own championship record of 26.50 set in the morning prelims.
His time is the fourth-fastest performance in history, and no other man has ever been quicker.
The new world record time Adam set on claiming 100m breaststroke gold on Saturday has been corrected from 57.00 secs to 57.10 secs.
On Monday, Adam claimed a second gold medal as a part of the GB 4x100m mixed medley relay team, which set a new championship record of 3 minutes and 40.18 seconds.
The other team members were James Guy, Freya Anderson and Georgia Davies.
Adam had his first taste of competitive swimming as a young member of his local Dove Valley club in Uttoxeter.
