The season’s journey begins for Blues at Skelmersdale

LEEK Town enter fresh territory when they travel to face Skelmersdale United on the opening day of the season in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League tomorrow (Aug 18).

It is the first of a number of new journeys Blues will face in the newly-formed West Division of the NPL.

Blues winger Rob Stevenson agrees fresh terms

Blues will be without Sam Hall and Kyle Blake for their opener because of injuries, but on a happier note manager Neil Baker was delighted to get winger Rob Stevenson to agree terms again for another season.

New faces in the Blues squad include former Port Vale youngster Charlie Walford and former Glossop striker Zeff Thomas and ex-Winsford United midfielder Harry Brazel.

“We need to hit the ground running if we are to make a statement of intent,” said Baker.

“We were a bit slow out of the blocks last season, so I’m looking for an improvement this time.”

Quickly following on from their Skelmersdale trip Blues are at home to Droylsden next Tuesday (7.45pm).
