Tuesday Sport extra: Matt late finish earns Leek Town a deserved home point

A LATE equaliser from Matt Bailey earned Blues a deserved point from an entertaining encounter at Harrison Park last night.

Bailey, pictured, headed in from a corner kick in the 81st minute to cancel out a 62nd minute opener from Droylsden’s Liam Caddick.

Caddick fired a low shot into the bottom corner of the net past Blues man-of-the-match Danny Roberts.

Substitute Jordan Johnson went close to stealing a win for Blues two minutes from a time with a shot which curled just over the bar.

Blues boss Neill Baker chose to field the same-line-up which opened the season with a 4-0 victory away to Skelmersdale United on Saturday.

However, Baker was forced into a late re-shuffle on the subs bench after Darren Chadwick was injured during the warm-up. Jessy Bavanganga took his place on the bench.

Leek Town: Roberts, Green, Kearns, Grocott, Lycett, Bailey, Maguire, Walford, Grice, Trickett-Smith, Stevenson. Subs: Thomas, Johnson, Bavanganga, Brazer, Chapman.

Attendance: 322.
