Top-of-the-table clash coming up at Pointon Park

AN above average crowd is expected at Pointon Park, Cheddleton, for the top-of-the-table clash between Leek CSOB and Silverdale Athletic this coming Wednesday night (Oct 10).

The unbeaten Old Boys have a chance to open up a six-point gap between the two teams by chalking up an eleventh win from 13 starts in the Staffordshire County Senior League Premier Division to date.

Silverdale won 5-1 won away to Brereton Social at the weekend to maintain their title challenge, while Old Boys scored four times without reply at home to Eastwood Hanley.

Foley Meir moved up into their place under new manager Keilan Bond (ex-Ball Haye Green) after beating pre-season title favourites Tunstall Town 4-1 on Saturday.

Tunstall, promoted as Division One champions Ossma Blurton at the end of last season, have now suffered 4-1 defeats in successive weekends after previously being undefeated. Redgate Clayton ended their unbeaten run.
