Cheese packing plant in Leek has vacancies for 50 temporary staff

THE largest cheese-packing plant in the UK is advertising for more than 50 temporary staff in the build up to Christmas.

Fifty jobs are up for grabs at Ormua Foods UK at its modern Leek factory on Barnfields.

The company has invested more than £1.3 in new equipment to increase efficiency and flexibility on site.

Managing director Bill Hunter said: “Every year we invest more than £3 million in equipment and our brands because we believe it is the right thing to do.”

Ormua Foods was previously known as Adams Foods and is best known for its Kerrygold and Pilgrims Choice brands.

“We want to become a cheese packaging centre of excellence and Europe’s most efficient cheese packaging plant,” Mr Hunter added.

The company employs more than 600 people at its Leek site where a variety of cheeses are cut and packaged.
