Firefighters called to rescue a horse called Blaze from a stream

FIREFIGHTERS were called to the Staffordshire Moorlands earlier today (Oct 20) to perform a challenging animal rescue on remote farmland.

Crews from Leek, Longnor and Cannock were despatched to the incident in the Butterton area shortly after 1.30pm.

A twenty-six-year-old horse called Blaze was trapped in a stream at the bottom of a steep embankment.

The horse was eventually freed and checked over by a vet before being taken to a stable to recover from its ordeal.

“Fingers crossed for the next 24 hours,” said a Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson.
