‘S’ for stands success at Leek’s much in demand Alphabet Store

BEG to differ or not the slogan, ‘I’m terribly posh, I’m from Leek,’ is putting the town on the map with all and sundry.

It’s the result of a range of tongue-in-cheek merchandise being sold by one of the town’s growing number of independent traders. The Alphabet Store.

The Alphabet Store, on Stanley Street, is struggling to keep up with demand for its newly-introduced British-made range of mugs, tea towels, coasters and fashionable tote bags, all bearing the slogan ‘I’m terribly posh, I’m from Leek.’

Alison Madeley, who works at the shop, which sells a wide range of other novelty products, including ‘I Love Leek’ items, said: “When we got the stuff in we put it on social media and people went crazy over it..

“We thought it was tongue-in-cheek and quite funny. People can’t get enough of it and we sold out very quickly.

“We’re expecting it to be popular thus Christmas and we are getting more stock in this week.”

The Alphabet Store is a member of the town’s Totally Locally initiative which champions independent businesses.
