Police officer recruitment is changing and new recruits will join policing as an apprentice or as an existing graduate. Student officers will learn on the job as well as studying at university for a degree or post graduate diploma whilst they are serving as officers.

Policing is a job like no other and you will need to have a passion for public service, excellent people skills, the ability to build relationships and work in a team and the commitment to make a difference to the lives of the communities of Staffordshire. Staffordshire Police is a diverse area with both rural and urban conurbations, serving over 1m people.

New student officers joining the force in May/June 2019 and onwards and will train and study over either a two or three year period, depending on which entry route applies.

New officers will receive a starting salary of between £18k and £23k depending on the entry route, previous qualifications and/or recognised prior learning.
