MOVIE moguls could be converging on Caverswall Castle for a future blockbuster, subject to local planners welcoming their presence.
Owner Robin MacDonald, a successful businessman, is seeking permission to allow film-makers and day visitors to the site as a means of raising cash towards to the castle’s upkeep.
Access to the moated castle’s interior and grounds, however, would be restricted and supervised to ensure that there is no damage to the historic fabric of this former manor house and its picturesque grounds.
The 17th-century castle has undergone major restoration in recent years and is Mr MacDonald’s family home. It was at one time offered on the market at £5 million.
Staffordshire Moorlands District Council is expected to make a decision on the planning application in the next eight to 12 months.
