Man in police custody after woman is bitten by a dog in Leek

A 32 year-old Leek man is in police custody after being arrested on suspicion of allowing a dangerous dog to be out of control in a public place.

The arrest follows a police appeal for information after a 22 year old woman was bitten by a Staffordshire Bull Terrier in the town on Saturday night.

The incident occurred in Garden Street at around 7.30pm and resulted in the victim sustaining a bite to her lower leg.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Staffordshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 745 of November 24.
