Promising Blues academy player rewarded with a contract after taking the step up

TEENAGE defender Jessy Bavanganga has been handed a contract by Leek Town after impressing manager Neil Baker on taking the step up from the club’s academy.

The 18 year-old joined the academy at Harrison Park in in September 2017 after being released by Stoke City.

Baker said: “He has showed me he wants to be part of my plans. He’s been working hard on his game and picks things up very quickly.”

Bavanganga made his first debut for Blues last April, coming on as a second-half substitute in the local derby against Newcastle Town.

He has progressed since to become a regular member of Blues first team squad and is tipped to have a bright future ahead of him.
