Snow causing problems for motorists in the Staffordshire Moorlands: A53 closed at Flash

MOTORISTS are facing treacherous conditions in the Staffordshire Moorlands because of falling snow.

Police are urging people to make only essential journeys and warn the A53 is closed beyond Flash Bar heading from Leek.

Some roads in the Biddulph Moor area – including Woodhouse Lane – are impassable because of snow.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for snow across the Moorlands until midinight.

The snow is expected to turn into rain overnight but there is a danger of icy conditions on roads tomorrow morning.
