Ice warning for North Staffordshire motorists

MOTORISTS are being urged to take extra care following a severe weather warning issued for Staffordshire by the Met Office.

Freezing conditions are forecast from midnight tonight (Monday) through until mid-day tomorrow.

A Staffordshire County Council highways spokesman said: “We’re expecting ice, frost and rain which could turn to snow on higher ground.

“Our gritting crews will be out across the county helping to keep the roads clear.

“Temperatures are going to remain low throughout the rest of the week, but there are no further warnings in place at the moment.”

According to the Met Office it’s going to get warmer by Friday and Saturday, but then temperatures will drop quite sharply on Sunday and remain low into the week.

“Our gritting crews will be constantly monitoring temperatures from our nine weather stations across the county, and we will send gritters out as and when necessary,” added the county highways spokesman.
