LEGACIES of former members has enabled Endon Methodist Church to invest £280,000 on an extension the building.
This includes a large function room and full-fitted kitchen for use during weekly coffee mornings and monthly Sunday lunches.
It means the church’s volunteer-run lunch clubs can cater for a growth of members.
The café is open every Monday from 10am until 2pm.
Church minister Julie Herbert said: “There is no natural centre for Endon. The church is it and we want it to be used to a maximum.
“We wouldn’t have been able to have the extension without the help of very generous legacies and donations from local organisations,” she added.
