HIGH winds which have battered North Staffordshire overnight are forecast to continue until mid-afternoon.
The Met Office has a yellow weather warning in place until 3pm.
Gusts of up 50mph are likely with the possibility of reaching up to 70mph in exposed parts of the Staffordshire Moorlands.
Today’s (Feb 9) outdoor antiques and collectors market in Leek has been cancelled in the interests of public safety, but the indoor market is open as usual.
A Met Office spokesman said: “There will be a fair amount of sunshine during the day but also some blustery showers. Maximum temperature 9degC.”
