STOKE CITY are to broadcast the funeral of Gordon Banks OBE live on the big screens at the bet365 Stadium and on the Championship cub’s official website.

The funeral service at Stoke Minster next Monday (March 4) is strictly by invitation only and space around the Minster will be severely restricted.

However, fans and the general public who wish to pay their respects to the legendary former Potters goalkeeper and World Cup winner, who passed away earlier this month aged 81, are invited to do so at the bet365 Stadium.

The Franklyn Stand will be open from 11.30am with the service starting at 1.30pm.

Details of the exact route for Gordon’s funeral cortege will be announced in due course but the club can confirm it will pass through the stadium on route to the Minster.

Once the cortege has left the stadium, archive footage of Gordon in action will be broadcast on the two big screens before the service gets underway.

Anyone wishing to attend the bet365 Stadium will need to obtain a ticket free of charge in advance from the usual outlets – online at scfcdirect.com, in-person from the stadium Ticket Office and intu Potteries Club Store or by calling (01782) 367 599.
