Stoke fans invited to pay their respects to Cheadle teenager at Forest game

Oliver was a big Stoke City fan.

STOKE City fans are asked to join in a minute’s applause in memory of a Cheadle teenager at today’s (March 2 )home game against Nottingham Forest.

The gesture is to honour Oliver Marshall, 18, a fellow Stoke fan and a turnstile operator at the bet365 Stadium.

Oliver died at his home, in Shelley Drive, Cheadle, on February 19, despite frantic efforts by his friends to save him.

His death is as yet unexplained.

Oliver’s parents were on holiday in Cumbria at the time and news of their son’s death was broken to them by police.

The Stoke-on-Trent College student had a great passion for football and played for Cheadle SMU until he was 17. He was a former pupil at Cheadle High School and JCB Academy.

All Cheadle SMU teams will be observing a minute’s silence in Oliver’s memory at tomorrow’s games.
