New partnership will benefit the county’s emerging talented young cricketers

Leek’s Alex Thomson joined Warwickshire.

MORE young Staffordshire cricketers will be soon able to benefit from coaching sessions promoted by first-class county Warwickshire.

It follows the creation of a new partnership between the two counties.

An initial arrangement with South Staffs, which provided weekly dedicated coaching sessions for promising youngsters, has been extended to cover the whole of the county.

It means more players will be able to join Warwickshire’s Academy and their Emerging Player Programme (EPP).

Recent times have seen former Leek players Alex Mellor and Alex Thomson have progress through to the Warwickshire first team.
