Post office on the move to neighbouring village

Village post office on the move.

BLYTHE Bridge and neighbouring Forsbrook residents are set to benefit from extended post office opening times from Thursday (March 21), when their local branch moves into a convenience store.

The current branch at 238 Uttoxeter Road, Blythe Bridge, will close today at 1pm and re-open in the SPAR store at 13 Cheadle Road, Forsbrook, at 1pm on Thursday.

A Post Office spokesman said: “The new-style local branch will have Post Office Services provided from an open-plan counter alongside the retail counter of the SPAR store.”

Opening hours of the relocated post office will be: Monday to Saturday 6am – 11pm; Sundays 7am – 10.30pm.

The spokesman added: “This will mean that the branch will be open for an extra 71 hours and 30 minutes of Post Office services a week – including all day Sunday and Saturday afternoon.

“This branch will also open significantly earlier and will close much later every day.

“These changes will make it more convenient for customers to visit.”

The SPAR store in Forsbrook is run by family-owned convenience store operator Blakemore Retail.
