Cheddleton kid has grown up into a class athlete

2019 Potters ‘Arf winner Matt Clowes was brought up in Cheddleton

MATT Clowes returned to his native North Staffordshire to win the Potters ‘Arf for the second year running.
The Cardiff AC runner, who was brought up in Cheddleton, was only 24 seconds of his own course record as he crossed the finishing line in Hanley.
The 29-year-old, who now lives in South Wales, was four minutes clear of the rest of the field, clocking 1:07:17.
“I’ll be back again next year for sure. Hopefully next year I’ll be a bit fresher and we can have another crack at the course record,” he said.
Ben Fish (Blackburn Harriers) finished second in a time of 1:11:22, followed by Congleton’s Carl Moulton (Boalloy) in 1:13:14 in third spot.
Polly Keen (Nuneaton AC) won the ladies race in a time of 1:23:08, finishing 19th overall.
