Better weather forecast later for two big family attractions in the Moorlands

IT’S a damp start for two big family attractions in the Staffordshire Moorlands today (July 6), but drier weather is forecast for later.
Motorists are advised to avoid Cheadle town centre between 12 noon and 2pm, as roads will be closed in order to safely accommodate the annual carnival procession.
The carnival opened last night with a rock concert at Tean Road recreation ground, headlined by Guns or Roses, the UK’s finest Guns n Roses tribute act.
Plent of family-themed events have been programmed at the recreation ground over the weekend – including a wrestling in the marquee today featuring three bouts.
Cheadle’s ITV ‘The Voice Kids’ singing sensation, Joslyn Plant, will be performing on stage between 5.30pm-6.30pm.
Werrington’s popular annual Funday gets underway at Meigh Road playing fields (off the A52) at 12 noon and goes on until 4pm.
The free event is sponsored by Werrington Young Persons Support Group and boasts a host of attractions.
New this year are children’s rides, a dog show and a penalty shoot-out..
There is also live music and plenty of fun and games for all the family.
