Man critically injured in Leek street attack

POLICE are appealing for information after a man suffered a serious assault in Leek last night (July 19).
Officers were called to reports of a 28-year-old man with a serious head injury outside the Co-op supermarket on West Street at around 8.40pm. The man was taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital by ambulance and is currently in a critical condition.
A man has been arrested in connection with the incident and remains in custody.
The area has been cordoned off as detectives work with forensics teams to establish the circumstances of the incident.
A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: “Enquires are on-going, and CCTV will be reviewed”.
