Motorists warned of car park closures in the Moorlands for improvement works

IMPROVEMENT work is to start on the first of 12 district council-run car parks in the Staffordshire Moorlands from today (July 29).
Twelve off-street car parks are to be repaired this summer – beginning with Wharf Road in Biddulph.
Staffordshire Moorlands District Council is investing £366,500 in the eight-week improvement programme, which will include resurfacing, line painting and painting bollards and furniture.
The work at Wharf Road will take around eight days. Provision will be made to enable electrical vehicle charging points to be installed in the future and two parent and child spaces will be created.
The programme schedule for the work is as follows:
Wharf Road, Biddulph – Monday, July 29 (8 days).
Regent Street, Leek – Thursday , August 1 (2 days)
Mill Hayes, Biddulph – Monday, August 5 (6 days).
Market Street East, Leek – Thursday, August 8 (7 days).
Silk Street, Leek – Friday, August 9 (2 days).
Old Road, Tean – Wednesday, August 11 (1 day).
St Edwards Street, Leek – Monday, August 12 (3 days).
High Street, Leek – Tuesday, August 13 (9 days).
Market Street West, Leek – Wednesday, August 14 (3 days).
Stockwell Street, Leek – Thursday, August 15 (14 days).
Birchall Playing Fields, Leek – Friday , August 16 (17 days).
Smithfield North, Leek – Tuesday, August 27 ( 4 days).
To allow for any changes to the programme, notice signs will be posted at the car parks seven days prior to work starting on site and on the council’s Twitter and Facebook accounts.
