Body of missing Leek man discovered in woodland

POLICE have called off the search for a missing Leek man, Matthew Harrison, 36, after a body was found in the town earlier today.

The discovery was made in an area of woodland near to Ashenhurst Way.

Mr Harrison was last seen the previous day.

A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: ” Matthew’s family have been informed and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.

” Formal identification will take place in due course. Detectives do not believe there are any suspicious circumstances and a report will be prepared for HM Coroner.

“The matter is being referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) due to previous police contact”.
