STOKE City U23s had to settle for a draw in their opening Premier 2 League fixture againt Sunderland at Leek Town FC last night (Aug 12).
Gabriel Kyeremateng gave the Potters the leading in the 15th minute, flicking the ball in from a corner kick.
Jake Dunwoody and Oliver Shenton had close range efforts well saved by the Sunderland goalkeeper to deny Stoke a bigger half-time lead.
Sunderland equalised on 66 minutes when Jake Hackett found the net from a 20-yard free kick which went in off the post.
Stoke went desperately close to grabbing a last minute winner when Ryan Corrigan’s goalbound attempt clipped the top of the bar.
