Police hunt armed robber who struck at Leek shop

DETECTIVES are investigating an armed robbery at a Leek shop late last night (Aug 13).

A man entered Premier Stores, in Southbank Street, at around 10 o’clock, holding what is believed to have been a pistol and stole a large amount of cash from the till.

Firearms officers attended the scene and carried a full search and patrol of the area.

The suspect has been described as a white male, believed to be between 5ft 6ins and 5ft 10ins tall, wearing a black cloth over his face, revealing only his eyes.

He was of slim-medium build and wore all dark clothing including black or blue shoes, jeans, hat and jacket. He also wore dark gloves and held the weapon in his right hand.
