What a Guy! Two unbeaten centuries in V3 (Over 40’s) finals for Checkley vets

Double century-maker for Checkley Simon Guy.

CHECKLEY batsman Simon Guy wrote himself into the club’s history books with TWO unbeaten centuries in the NSSCL V3 (over 40’s) finals at the JG Meakins CC ground in Hanley on Sunday.
Guy scored 129 no against Porthill Park in the semi-finals and then 143no against Stafford in the final.
His 129 runs came off 49 balls and included 11 fours and eight sixes, while knock of 143 off 54 balls included 14 fours and nine sixes.

Guy, 41, who has played first-class cricket for Yorkshire, heads the Checkley coaching staff and is director of cricket at Denstone College.
Checkley advanced to the final by beating Porthill by 79 runs and lifted the trophy by seeing off Stafford by 90 runs.
