Punters can expect the unexpected from the Team Candlish horseracing team!

Lazarote Hurdle surprise winner Big Time Dancer gets a pat from Jennie Candlish.

STAFFORDSHIRE Moorlands trainer Jennie Candlish has sent four of her horses up to Kelso Races on the Scottish Borders today (Sept 10).
It’s a 200-miles-plus trip north from Jennie’s stables at Basford Grange, near Leek, so maybe she’s optimistic about grabbing some prize money.
Catchmeifyoucan goes in the opening 2m handicap hurdle at 4.25, followed by Stop Talking goes in the 2m4f handicap hurdle at 5.35, Mullinavat in the 6.10 chase over 2m1f, and finally Outcrop in the concluding 2m handicap hurdle at 7.10.
Maybe it’ s Outcrop that will harvest the cash for Team Candlish. He will be ridden again by Tom Dowson who partnered him to victory in 2m4f hurdle at Bangor on Dee early August.
The gelding however was beaten by 15 lengths on his return to the course on the Welsh border a fortnight later.
Catchmeifyoucan has done nothing to suggest he will be troubling the bookmakers just yet, while the mare Stop Talking hasn’t given punters anything to shout about since winning over hurdles at Perth in April, and Mullinavat has yet to get in the prize money, after five attempts, since arriving at Jennie’s yard from Ireland in mid-June.

But Candlish horses do have a habit of doing the unexpected!
