One goal enough to end Rocester’s cup hopes

A SOLITARY early goal was enough to see Rocester bow out of the Walsall Senior Cup at home to Tividale at the first round stage tonight.
The Romans were their own undoing when a poor pass was intercepted by Darragh Bustin who fed Daniel Smith to score.
Rocester’s opponents from the Midland League Premier Division could have gone three or four goals up in frenzied opening 15 minutes.
But the hosts weathered the storm and staged a determined fight back in the second half as manager Paul Wright rung the changes with three substitutions.
Lewis Dawson replaced Lewis Rand, Macauley Rowe came on for Jordan Dodd and Jordan Godfrey was substituted by Derry Creighton.
The Romans efforts deserved at least take the game into extra-time, but Tividale held on to their 1-0 score to go through to the next round.
Next up for Rocester is their Buildbase FA Vase engagement away to Quorn this Saturday.
