Rugby Union: Leek run in six tries in victory romp

LEEK 1st XV ran in six tries in overcoming Moseley Oak 40-10 in Midland Two West (North) at Esterchem Park on Saturday.
Jack Newton-Taylor (2), Nick Plamer, Joel Booth, Adam Varley and Tom Scragg were the Leek try scorers.
The Leek squad continues to be dogged by unavailability through injury or other reasons, yet it still seems to produce a cohesive style.
Much credit has to go to the club’s coaching and analysing staff which has kept all the players focused this season.
Before the game, a minute’s applause was made in memory of former Leek first team captain Bob Woolley who passed away last weekend.
Bob was a keen follower of the side after retiring and he had many friends at the club throughout his long association.
Leek play their final home game of 2019 against Newcastle this Saturday (2.15pm).
The club have booked a coach for the trip to Malvern in the Midland Intermediate Cup semi-finals on Saturday, January 25 (meet clubhouse 10am).
All non-players are urged to support the club on this day with coach seats available at £10 per head. Book with Mark Hardern.
Leighton Buzzard are at home to Newark in the other semi-final.
The Midlands Final is scheduled to take place on Saturday, March 7.
It’s also the day England play Wales in the Six Nations and it is possible the game could be switched the Sunday if agreed by all parties.
