Uttoxeter bogged down in the mud

Disappointed: Uttoxeter manager Dean Arnold.

Heath Hayes 3, Uttoxeter Town 1.
UTTOXETER retained fifth place in the Midland League Division One promotion race, despite this disappointing defeat.
However, the gap between themselves and the team immediately above them, Lichfield City, has widened to six points.
An out of sorts Uttoxeter played second fiddle to their hosts in the first half, who led 2-0 at the break, after they adapted better to the muddy surface.
Dean Williams struck for Hayes in the 24th and 35th minutes, which left Uttoxeter with a mountain to climb in the second half.
The situation got worse for the visitors when Rhys Horton added a third goal for the hosts in the 55th minute.
Jack Hassall replied for Uttoxeter after 62 minutes but Hayes hung on to claim all three points.
“It was a mud heap of a pitch but the same for both sides – and they adapted better,” commented Uttoxeter boss Dean Arnold.
“We were not at the races in the first half and missed [scoring] chances in the second.
“On to Tuesday now and away to Hinckley in similar conditions,” he added.
