Dean Arnold’s men on the road again

Uttoxeter boss Dean Arnold.

UTTOXETER Town return to Midland League action tonight (Jan 14) at Hinckley AFC and will be keen to atone for a bad result at the weekend.
A 3-1 defeat away to Heath Hayes stalled Uttoxeter’s pace in the Division One promotion race, but they remain handily placed in fifth spot.
However, the gap between themselves and the team immediately above them, Lichfield City, has now widened to six points.
That said Uttoxeter have four games in hand over their south Staffordshire rivals in which to overhaul them.
A return to winning form at Hinckley would set Dean Arnold’s men up nicely for Saturday’s difficult trip to Stafford, where they take on second placed Brocton.
Uttoxeter’s task at Heath Hayes was made difficult by a difficult playing surface resulting from the extremely wet weather.
“It was a mud heap of a pitch but the same for both sides – and they adapted better,” commented Arnold.
“We were not at the races in the first half and missed [scoring] chances in the second,” he added.
