New snack bar approved for visitors to zoo

Feeding time for the penguins at Peak Wildlife Park.

A POPULAR family tourist attraction in the Staffordshire Moorlands is set to improve its facilities for hungry visitors.
Peak Wildlife Park, situated off Ellastone Road, Winkhill, near Leek, has been granted planning permission for a bigger and better snack bar.
All 12 members of the Staffordshire Moorlands District Council planning committee approved the relocation of an existing and unauthorised snack bar building on the site.
The zoo was known as Blackbrook Zoological Park before it went into administration in 2014 and closed.
It re-opened under its present name in 2015 after being purchased by Jake Veasey and Colin MacDougall – since when a number of improvements have been made to attract more visitors.
The zoo is well-known for its colony of penguins which go walk-about in the grounds.
An underwater viewing area gives visitors the chance to see penguins like they’ve never seen them before.
