Blues Babes enjoy goal romp ahead of clash with league leaders

LEEK Town Ladies went goal crazy at home to Lye Town in the West Midlands Regional Women’s League Premier Division on Sunday.
Ian Smith’s team stepped up their title challenge from third spot with a runaway 14-0 victory, with half of the tally coming in a sensational final 11 minutes of the game.
Chantelle Gallagher (pictured) opened the scoring for the Blues Babes on 13 minutes and went on to net another six times in the 24th, 66th, 70th, 82nd, 86th and 88th minutes.
Substitute Rehanne Mellor made a big impact as a late substitute with a quick hat-trick achieved with strikes in the 84th, 89th and 90+3 minutes. Olivia Mountford (20th, 69th mins), Michaela Lockett (67 mins) and sub Paris O’Connor (87 mins) completed the scoring.
This victory will put Leek in high spirits for Sunday’s visit from league leaders Sutton Coldfield Town, who beat Crusaders 6-3 away after extra-time in the cup at the weekend.
