Coronavirus: Potteries Sunday League expected to suspend fixtures

THE Potteries and District Sunday League is holding an emergency committee meeting tonight (Tuesday) to discuss the coronavirus pandemic and is expected to follow the lead of other local leagues and cancel matches for the foreesable future.
The Staffs County Senior League and Coors Sunday League have already announced all fixtures will be suspended for two weeks, after which the situation will be reviewed.
County League chairman told The Sentinel’s Jim Hannah: “These are unprecedented times and the safety of everyone involved in the SCSL and the local communities in which we play are absolutely paramount.
“After having been notified that we had players in self-isolation at the weekend, meaning that two scheduled fixtures were postponed, then we wanted to provide leadership and clarity in order to keep safe.
“We will discuss the plans for completing the season when the situation is clearer about when we can continue to play football.”
